I miss the rains down in Africa…
At this very moment, I am (or should be) packing furiously for my trip to South Africa!
I’m excited because it’s my first long vacation in this scale in eons!!! Sure, I’ve taken short trips here and there (mostly tagged with work trips too), but nothing beats flying far, far away to somewhere that is entirely unfamiliar and immersing yourself in the people, places and culture there.
Travel has become integral to me as a photographer. Think of it, like a refreshing of the eyes, almost like Paul on the road to Damascus, where scales fall off and everything becomes clear. Too dramatic? To be honest that is what it feels like for me. Being exposed to the urban jungle day in and day out, and no matter how much you tell yourself that opportunities are lying around waiting for you to find, it becomes easy to feel increasing contempt for the routine. Therefore, I get easily addicted to the exhilaration of seeing things like a tourist, through “new eyes”, where everything is a wonder, and possibilities are endless.
A multitude of images from South Africa are to be expected, but in the meantime, here are some photos taken from previous travels, see if you can identify where they were taken! I will also attempt to schedule another post to be released while I’m on holiday. Never had much luck with scheduled posts but it is a good time to try!
