Jenny + Munwai :: The Joy That Matters
If you are familiar with wedding planning, or even regular viewing of the variety of wedding blogs that are available today, you’d know that it is sometimes so easy to get lost in all the details. I have to admit that as a photographer I tend to get caught up in looking for all the pretty things, although I think belonging to the fairer sex contributes strongly towards that.
Then I photographed Jenny and Munwai’s wedding dinner party. Called exactly that because all they wanted was to hold a simple celebration with all their close friends seeing as they had already conducted a small-scaled solemnisation a couple weeks before which only involved family.
Incidentally, I read Jonas Peterson’s Mason Jar Manifesto around the same time I photographed this particular celebration, and the amazing thing is that everything that Jonas talks about in his blog entry just seems to chime in tune with what this dinner party stood for. Jenny and Munwai, they had just one simple thought they wanted to roll with; to hold a dinner to honour friends and thank them for their support, and thus built their wedding around that.
After the night’s festivities, I knew this was what mattered: Joy, Happiness, Teasing, Laughter, Food, Alcohol, Touching Speeches & Friends who Truly Matter.

That Feel Good Feeling of Celebration
Thought that this would be a good photo, befitting the mood of celebration we are currently in. The Lunar New Year just started this week in Singapore, and we are all busy feasting with wide smiles on our faces. Let’s just say that how we feel inside is not unlike how these lovely people feel at a close friend’s wedding.
Happy Hump Day to you all!!!

JENISE & KT :: A Cathedral Wedding
Today, I go back in time once again to showcase one of the earliest weddings I shot. Sometimes it’s good to look back at older work, to see how much you’ve learnt, or to see if you’re detracted too far from your origins.
Jenise and KT are a couple who proves that it is never too late in life to find love, or have love find you (whichever way you please). It was a beautiful affair which took place at St Andrew’s Cathedral and Swisshotel Singapore, two very much coveted venues for local brides. Jenise’s wedding co-ordinator tied every detail together beautifully, bringing in the theme of purple tastefully throughout both the ceremony and dinner, and even subtly into the bridesmaids’ dresses.
It is technically near impossible to have an elegant yet classy wedding with such a large guest list (and believe me they have amassed quite a number of friends over the years), but the beautiful thing is that they managed to pull it off! It was a unique experience rich with the love of family and friends from all around the world, who peppered the celebration and speeches with tears, laughter and, most importantly, so much joy.
This is my favourite from the night…
