Just when you thought my period of giving thanks is over, I keep on finding lists of things to give thanks for. As they say, “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings.” And I’ve yet to hear crystal-shattering tones. There’s something about the festive season that render me reflective, which is something I love and appreciate, because there are countless things to be grateful and thankful for.

I’ve had more than my fair share of love, when I realise the extent of which I am surrounded my people who love me, it makes me tremulous (to take a page out of Anne Frank’s diary).

I have, inwardly and outwardly, beautiful friends. Only made more evident this year through all the help offered and received in preparation for the wedding; something that I’ll guard against taking for granted. I thank them because they will make writing “thank you” cards so easy when all the stress and hubbub is over. So, the one way I chose to pay homage to them this year, is look back at the years of friendships and look at random photos I’ve taken in retrospect.

This year, I didn’t have the need to play dress-up, I didn’t don a Santa hat, or make myself a golden wreath, because all I need for Christmas is right here.

Merry Christmas folks. I hope everyone out there experiences the same warmth and love as I have.

Sneaking past the new year

The last you heard of me, it was Christmas. Now we’ve sailed past the new year, found ourselves midway through January and I’ve been enjoying my little time off, maybe a little bit too much seeing that I’ve been reluctant to get back on the horse and into a fierce gallop.

I had a pretty good breather in Bali last week, hence the silence. A girl needs silence as much as she needs to be silent at times, you know? But I would like to report that I enjoyed myself, although most of the first day was spent getting over cold and fatigue. The exciting thing is that, as with most of my vacations, I brought my film camera along and I shot quite a few things and I’m pretty excited to see what comes out of it. There’s nothing quite like getting developed rolls back and seeing what you end up with!

Here are some sneaks while we’re waiting. You may have seen the Mad Men inspired shot on my facebook page if you follow me. The other is from the wedding of Shaun and Wenai. Both may have been different in styles in shooting and editing, but both equally satisfying in outcomes!

Hope all of you are having a great year so far, I do want to talk about things I have planned for 2013 but that will come in another blog entry! Hang in there y’all!!!

A mela.de.gypsie Christmas

And just like that, Christmas 2012 is Christmas Past. But why should we even stop the celebrating? It still feels like Christmas stretches on to even until the New Year comes. I guess when Christmas leftovers start becoming last year’s leftovers is when we know is the season for celebration (and excessive guilt-free gorging) should stop.

I’ve to say I’m pretty proud of my cards, my heart does a happy dance whenever I examine them. When I first sent them to the printer I was agonising over how many of each design I should print, wondering if anyone would ever want them, and now, I am struggling to keep a good sized stack for myself.

And yet, I’ve already left a stack of them at a few of my favourite local shops for you guys! Free-of-charge! Just because it is (still) Christmas! Did I mention FREE?

So, do go down and show Books Actually, Cat Socrates and The Little Drom Store some holiday loving! And to see my cards in real life, of course!

I hope you love them as much as I do!
